What's up everybody hope you all doing good
This week had a few eventful things but not much that would be interesting to any of you so here is the quick rundown.
On Tuesday we had zone conference (meeting of a larger geographical group of missionaries). It was in Stockholm so we got to go into the city. Good to see some missionary friends. Played soccer with the young men in our ward that night.
Thursday had another missionary meeting with a smaller group and then went to the doctor and got my toe stabbed for 10 minutes before asking them to treat it correctly (ingrown toenail🫠).
Friday we got to play some mini golf because the language cafe at the library that we usually go to is ending for summer so they paid for everyone to go play mini golf and bought us all ice cream as well. We are trying to teach 2 of the guys that go. Probably won't end up teaching them with how it's been going but had a fun time.
Saturday got to play basketball again which was great this week. Also had a lesson with our awesome newer member who we are coaching up to teach the missionary lessons.
Pday we took a bus and a ferry to a little island off the coast and kind of just wandered around the forest and coast.
Besides those things the week was the same thing that I've been putting in my email every week. Just out talking to people in the mall and door knocking. Like I mentioned last week getting pretty deflated with how much effort we are putting in and the same thing just continues every week. The dude Enrique that I talked about last week for those who read the email has now not replied for 4 straight calls with a text following. Disappointing for sure.
Simple spiritual thought this week but I've been thinking about Ether 12:6 "And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith." Specifically the last part of that verse, that we receive no witness until after the trial of our faith. A lot of the time, it can be hard to have faith when we can't really see the positive outcome or result that we are going to receive. My whole mission but especially this transfer has been a good test of that for me. Like I've been saying we've just been spending all of our time trying to find people to teach and rather than getting better it is only getting worse (we taught 0 non-member lessons this week). I would be lying if I said I'm not frustrated, but I have a choice to keep working hard and trusting in God or to get mad and start giving less effort because I'm not seeing results. My brother Jake was a good example of this for me this week. He has been looking for a job for a little bit with no success yet. Last week he had a job interview that was going really well, until the lady asked him if he'd be willing to work on Sundays. He said no, and she further explained that people take turns doing the Sunday shift so it would only be every couple of months that he would have to work on Sunday. Rather than giving in he chose to act in faith and say no, which ended the job interview there. No that doesn't mean that he will instantly be blessed and receive an even better job this coming week, but he chose to have faith in God and His commandments knowing that God has a bigger plan for him. This was a great example for me. Shoutout Jake🙌💪. I've also felt these past weeks that God has helped strengthen my faith and confidence in Him, even though things have been going completely contrary to what I would hope for. God will bless us in His own will and timing as we choose to act in faith before we know the coming result.
Have a good week🙏
